Squad for tomorrow (including likely starting eleven)

Partly through our own loan policy and partly through injury, we are very short of players for tomorrow’s huge game. Using the Champions League squad list, I have highlighted the players that are available, the players that are on loan, and the players that are injured. Assuming that both Bale and Gallas are fit for selection, we have twenty players available, including three goalkeepers and Danny Rose, who is likely to be the “odd one out” (unless Kranjcar is ruled out by his foot injury).

Goalkeepers

1 Heurelho Gomes Available
23 Carlo Cudicini Available

27 Ben Alnwick On loan at Doncaster

37 Stipe Pletikosa Available

Defenders

2 Alan Hutton Injured

3 Gareth Bale Available

4 Younes Kaboul Injured

13 William Gallas Available

16 Kyle Naughton On loan at Leicester

19 Sébastien Bassong Available
20 Michael Dawson Available
22 Vedran Ćorluka Available

26 Ledley King Injured
28 Kyle Walker On loan at Villa

32 Benoît Assou-Ekotto Available

40 Adam Smith On loan at Bournemouth
41 Calum Butcher On trial at Kansas City
45 Steven Caulker Injured

Midfielders

6 Tom Huddlestone Available
7 Aaron Lennon Available
8 Jermaine Jenas Available

12 Wilson Palacios Injured

14 Luka Modrić Available

17 Giovani dos Santos On loan at Racing Santander

21 Niko Kranjčar Available

24 Jamie O’Hara On loan at Wolves

25 Danny Rose Available
30 Sandro Available

34 Jonathan Obika On loan at Yeovil
39 Jake Livermore On loan at Leeds
40 Steven Pienaar Injured
44 Nathan Byrne On loan at Brentford
46 Thomas Carroll On loan at Leyton Orient
47 Jake Nicholson On loan at MyPa

Forwards

9 Roman Pavlyuchenko Available

10 Robbie Keane On loan at West Ham

11 Rafael van der Vaart Available
15 Peter Crouch Available
18 Jermain Defoe Available

38 Paul-José Mpoku On loan at Leyton Orient

I would expect the team to be:

Gomes
Corluka Gallas Dawson Assou-Ekotto
Sandro Modric
Lennon van der Vaart Bale
Crouch

Cudicini
Bassong
Huddlestone
Jenas
Pavlyuchenko
Defoe
Kranjcar

As a slight aside, something worth noting:

“Ronaldo, Ramos, Pepe, Ricardo Carvalho, Ángel Di María and Raúl Albiol are within a booking of a ban.
That’s three of the back four that’ll start tomorrow.”
– Taken from the UEFA Champions League website.

It is therefore vital that our wingers are brave, and try to run at and get in behind the back four as much as possible. Bale and Lennon running beyond Carvalho will probably be our best route to a goal, and so it’s vital that they take turns in getting close to Crouch and playing off him.

Come on you Spurs!

  1. Except corluka is out for the season and gallas has already been ruled out
  2. Here is the official match-day squad with Kaka and Angel Di Maria in.

    Goalkeepers: Casillas, Adan and Dudek.

Defenders: Ramos, Arbeloa, Pepe, Carvalho, Garay and Marcelo.

Midfielders: Lassana Diarra, Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Granero, Kaka, Oezil and Di Maria.

Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Higuain and Adebayor.
  3. Corluka is fit, it's hutton who's out for the season.
And the main site now says that gallas might be fit
  4. Corluka played on saturday and was fine, gallas is fit harry said last hour.
The team predicted is probably correct unless something happens as there training now.
  5. Make up your mind Anonymous... Real Madrid have a lot of ex-Premiership there. Dudek, Arbeloa, Diarra, Carvalho, Alonso, Ronaldo, Adebayor - Not just premiership, but ALL played for one of Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal!!
  6. The key to our defence viz Corluka, Gallas, Daws & BAE need to be extra accurate with tackles. In the event of losing the ball in so doing, they need to be more athletic in retrieving the ball. We need to have a total complimentary service from them like what we did against AC during the 2nd leg. A solid tight defence & everything else will fall into place.

  7. I thought Krancs got injured on Saturday?
  8. Where did Kaka come from i thought he was injured or loaned out . This has got to be the Team Windy or we will get blown away. Gomes Corluka Dawson Gallas Bale Lennon Huddlestone Sandro Modric

    Gomez

    Corluka Dawson Gallas Bale

    Lennon Huddlestone Sandro Modric

    Van Crouch ( Coach Davspurs)
  9. Going to be amassive night for Sandro if he starts. Getting excited now..!
  10. With Ronaldo playing, Sandro cannot afford to give away fouls outside the box as he did many times on Saturday. Although, with Ronaldo just getting over injuries, maybe he will rest his direct kick and we will be spared that side of his game.
  11. Anon @ 12:35 - very good point about the free kicks. Sandro can be quite clumsy, needs to learn when to just leave it...
  12. Krankie had a swollen foot as he kicked the sole of someone's boot. Should be good. Excellent blog. Mr Windy. Excellent.
  13. First time I've seen this blog and lineup sounds ace to me... Excellent!

Glad Gallas is fit - Bassong is just not up to it.. Maybe we'll see Tommy later-on and a change in strikers but all is good..
  14. Can't play with a flat middle 4 away at the Bernabeu Anon @ 11:45!
  15. We can play with a high middle if Hudds plays and is Ankle is 100 percent fit. He was hampered with this injury which meant him playing with injections before he had the operation. If the problem has bean fixed we are in for a great end to our season if he is not 100 percent i fear the end . Davspurs (energy watch)
  16. big game for hudd to come back in....i think it'll be modric, sandro in the middle, lennon rw, bale lw with rafa behind 3 metre peter
