Analysis of the goal conceded against Bolton (27/3)

Kevin Davies’ goalBolton get some joy down their right; Klasnic finds space in behind King, picks out Davies with a fine cross, and Davies steers the ball beyond Cudicini.

Firstly, without wanting to seem too bitter, a foul should have been given on Bale earlier in the move when Alonso bundled him to the ground from behind.

Nigel Reo-Coker has possession, and with Spurs having recently shifted to 4-4-2, he finds a little space in midfield.

He slides a ball down the line for Klasnic, who pulls away from King a little too easily.

Klasnic has a yard on King, and Davies has pulled away from Nelsen’s shoulder with Walker, who was otherwise exceptional on the night, caught ball-watching.

The cross is an excellent one – in the “corridor of uncertainty” (there’s one for Football Clichés!). Nelsen throws himself at it, and does get a toe to the ball.

But he can’t deflect it away from Davies, who calmly sends the ball back across goal with his left shin.

Cudicini is quite slow down and, having seen to be covering his far post, he almost dives away from it.

  • What the hell were Wolves doing helping Bolton to score against us?!

  • IoanX says:

The crucial point is that Walker was ball-watching!!!!!!
We have a number of defenders who have concentration lapses during a game which always are resulting in goals against us!
We have to address that problem if we want to move to the next level. One and a half hour of concentration every week isn’t asking too much from full time and well paid professionals. Isn’t it?

Windy- I would love to get your thoughts on the following players as less discussed transfer targets

Gabriel Torje – Udinese’s Romanian winger (I know he just signed last summer with them but I think he could be special)

Abel Hernandez – rumoured arsenal target

Ron Robert Zieler – a talented young goalkeeper for Hannover 96 (Friedel will need replacing in the next few years)

    • Windy says:

      Hello Gregory!

I have not seen Torje or Zieler but they sound like interesting prospects. I’ve never failed to have been impressed by Hernandez, although think he would require a long “settling in” period in the Premier League.

      What do you think?

Agree with the assessment of Walker’s ball watching. Happily it’s something that will lessen with time, something we hope he still has plenty of.

It is another example we can look on in envy of a team taking their chances efficiently, but we would’nt be spurs fans if we wanted 1 goal from 1 crowded penalty box instead of 1 goal and 15 fantastic nearlys 😉

I totally agree, as soon as he was booked he should have been replaced given how many times he'd already gone to gr… https://t.co/TYArOw1f7K
