We then went on to play Mexican side Club América in the final. We had good opportunities from a corner and a free kick, but the game was very tight and, despite our opponents having a player sent off late in the game, it eventually went to penalties having finished 0-0.

Both teams scored their first spot-kick, but we missed our second. All penalties were then scored until the fifth penalty when Club América missed, meaning that Spurs had a chance to take it to sudden death. It seems that we missed our final penalty, meaning that Club América won the tournament – congratulations to them – and we finished as runners up; a very impressive way to end the season!

  1. meh, penalties is a bit like drawing lots to see who wins. Ultimately we matched the overall winners on the field, a good achievement and a great experience for the lads.
  2. Slightly O/T (except possibly re Waller-Lassen)

    Strong ITK squad changes :

Released : Alnwick, Jansson, King, Wallere-Lassen, Nelsen, Oyenuga, Ranieri, Saha.

Jordan Archer, Ryan Fredericks and Cameron Lancaster are out of contract on 30 June but have been offered new deals (hence aren't on the released list).

Heurelho Gomes, Nathan Byrne, Jake Nicholson, Jonathan Obika and Alex Pritchard were all due to be out of contract but have had their deals extended.

Jack Barthram, Jonathan Miles, Jack Munns and Kevin Stewart have been offered pro contracts.

Daniel Day, James Yeboah, Ramil Sheriff, Lee Angol, Ronnie Hawkins and Paul McBride have been released.

William Ekong has been given a 3rd year scholarship.
  3. Thanks for posting this, very interesting! Sounds pretty much as I'd have expected to be honest although a little surprised at Hawkins, thought he might get another year.
  4. I wrote this on Spurs Odyssey now:

Three Tottenham players have been selected for England U17 in the Nordic Tounament in the Faroe Islands: Defender Connor Ogilvie, midfielder Harry Winks and forward Kolade Nathan Oduwa. The Tournament is between 6-11 of August.
